Star 1 Shield Replacement

Read all instructions before disassembly!

It is easiest to remove and install the shield in the up position. Replace any damaged or broken parts. The shield will only perform as designed if all the parts are in good working condition.
A	To remove the side cover: grasp the side cover from the eye port side and pull straight away from helmet. The shield will come off once the side cover is removed. It is not necessary to remove the pivots from the helmet.
B	Inspect the pivot assembly lower arm outer flange. Replace if missing or damaged. The pivots are LEFT and RIGHT sides and are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE.
C	To reinstall the shield: position the hole in the shield over the corresponding pivot sleeve and the shield teeth into the inside of the lower arm (circle). Be sure that the lower arm engages the shield teeth.
D	Inspect the prongs on the side covers prior to installation. Replace as necessary. The side covers are LEFT and RIGHT sides and are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE.
E	To reinstall the side cover: position the 3 retainer post mechanism over the corresponding holes in the helmet shell and strike the side cover with the palm until they engage. Be sure that all 3 have snapped into place.
F	Final Inspection: side covers should fit flush against the helmet shell, rotate the shield up and down- it should rotate freely and not bind. There is no shield adjustment.
